Saturday - Day Six
We were able to sleep in on Saturday morning - seeing as we had absolutely no plans for that day. We did make it to the main house in time for breakfast, though, which was good seeing as it was my last chance to have one of these babies. Have I mentioned I love the teeny Micky waffles? Then, because we're overachievers who can't sit still, we decided to spend our free day at Downtown Disney. It was always a consideration, but we'd pretty much nixed the idea...until The Boy looked up what there was to do and read the words "laser swords." Who needs a rest day anyway?
We started our day at Disney Quest - a gigantic arcade with all sorts of interactive games. We fought aliens, played skeeball and trivia, found another Wreck it Ralph, flew around on Aladdin's magic carpet, and battled super villans with laser swords in an augmented reality arena.
For those of you considering it, I should mention that we got complimentary admission. If we'd had to pay to go in, we'd likely have skipped it. It was fun, but not worth what they want to charge you.
We probably spent a couple of hours inside and saw pretty much everything we wanted to see - it's not really a full day activity.
For lunch, we stopped at Wolfgang Puck Express and had pizza (BTW, that was only a Quick Service credit and it was AMAZING. Definitely a better use than one of the resort cafeterias), then wandered the shops for the next few hours.
We found a restaurant and store completely dedicated to the awesomeness that is dinosaurs. Best Friend, this one is for you:
It's English AND dinos - what more could you want in life?
Then, we found the lego store! It made me want to build ALL THE THINGS. Also, how cute is my hubby?
We made teeeny avatars of ourselves at the DIY bar - suit, glasses, and sword for The Boy; 18th century dress & pie for me; and our bodyguard, Percival, who happens to be an Old West prospector pirate wizard. I'm sure they'll show up in adventures from time to time.
After we'd exhausted the shopping opportunities, we headed back to the resort.
We had time for a quick wardrobe change (yay themed outfits!), then made our way towards the carriages. On the way, we stumbled across a bonfire and marshmallow roasting - gah, I love Disney. They think of everything.
We scheduled our ride right at twilight, which made for a lovely time - river sounds, crickets, fireflies. Our driver, Star, and horse, Captian, showed us a great time.
We wrapped up the evening with drinks and dinner (oh, and packing...), kinda dreading the 3am wake up call the next day. Neither of us was quite ready to go home.
We made it back to OKC safely the next day, though (despite crazy winds and turbulence, Grover jumping out a two story window, and a long drive through Oklahoma). We had a great time, Disney. Thanks for the memories - I'm sure we'll be back soon.
